Nutritious Meal Plan and Growth Targets For Insured Children

Infant (6 months – 12 months)

A Developmental Milestone

  • Babies start teething (1–8 teeth)
  • They start rolling/walking
  • Can say simple words like ‘Mamma’4

The Morning

  • Mother’s milk
  • Boiled crushed/ 1 grated apple medium sized seasonal fruit (100 gm)
  • Fresh unsweetened orange or sweet lime juice

Mid Morning

  • Curdled milk/Milk (200 ml)
  • Sweet lassi or buttermilk

Lunch

  • Khichdi/ boiled and mashed carrot and peas/ gram or soft cooked leaves of spinach cooked with ghee

Mid-Afternoon

  • Mother’s milk

The Evening

  • Yogurt/Masoor (Lentil) Soup/Carrot Almond Pudding/Mashed Banana

Dinner

  • Mashed Potatoes with Peas and Cauliflower/Rice with Mashed Peas Wheat Ravo/Rice/Bajri Raab Dal Khichdi

Time to Sleep

  • Breast milk / palm (palm) sugar / colostrum / supplement
  • (Nutritional supplements can be added based on pediatrician’s prescription)

Toddler – (1-3 years)

A Developmental Milestone

  • All 20 primary teeth erupt in these children
  • They grow to half their adult height
  • Fluent speech, improved balance, and coordination

The Morning

  • 150 ml milk with palm sugar, jaggery pulp / Khaman Dhokla / Saural and pulses raab / Paua / Sabundani khichdi / Churi / Neer Dosa / Put Idli / Shiro / 1 boiled egg

Mid Morning

  • Cucumber-Carrot Sticks/Apple-Beetroot-Carrot Juice/Fresh Sweet Lime Without Sugar/Orange Juice

Lunch

  • Rice with pulses and green vegetables cooked in oil rich in vitamin D and ghee / fish stew / chicken stew / vegetable khichdi / carrot rice

Mid-Afternoon

  • Milk (150 ml) with palm sugar/
  • Jaggery, Sheera/Rawani Kheer/Avial/Payasam/Rava Ladoo

The Evening

  • Boiled Sweet Potato / Boiled Mashed Potato / Boiled and Mashed Carrot and Beetroot / Carrot Shreds / Sweet Potato Shredded Lado

Dinne

  • Wheat bran/sprouted millet/chickpea dal/manga dal/various vegetables like milk (dhudhi/karela/turiya/galka)/curd rice/masoor dal water/mashed carrot

Time to Sleep

The Morning

  • 1 cup milk/ 1 cup searal/ jaggery/ khakra idli/ pongal with sambar or chutney urineer hinsapur idli shiro (boiled egg/ handful of raisins, almonds or cashews

Mid Morning

  • Medium pear/apple orange/fig/grape/pomegranate/papaya or seasonal fruit salad

Lunch

  • Dal (1/2 cup rice with sambar and green vegetables cooked with vitamin D fortified oil and 2 rotis with ghee/ rice with potato masala/ local and seasonal vegetables – pumpkin/ 2-4 tbsp beans/ soy butter (100 ml)

Mid-Afternoon

  • A cup of unsweetened milk/boiled groundnuts/sprouts/chickpea flakes and jaggery ladles

The Evening

  • Boiled sweet potato/carrot and beetroot/ 1/2 bun or muffin/ papaya. Chiku mash grapes

Dinner

  • 1/2 cup Cauliflower 2 chapatis cooked with local or seasonal vegetables bajri, gram dal mung dal tuwer dal curry and khichdi with vegetable salad, oats – apple raab pumpkin juicy vegetable and rice-dal/sambar/ 2 rotis with milk

Time to Sleep

  • One cup milk jaggery supplement/ 3/4 cup yogurt supplement (Nutritional supplement can be added based on pediatrician’s prescription.

  • 150 ml milk with palm sugar/ jaggery / idli-2 / dosa-2 / roti 2 / paua 1 cup / upma 1 cup daal or sambar / paratha with (potato / cheese / cabbage) / mixed peas paua / sabudana khichdi / neer dosa / Pudla / Idli / Upma with sambar and chutney / 3 roti dal with boiled egg

The Middle the Morning

  • Carrot slices / raisins / medium sized apple / orange / almonds / walnuts / cashews / pomegranate / papaya or seasonal fruit salad

Lunch

  • Rice Cooked millets cooked with vitamin D fortified oil or ghee – 1 cup / Wheat roti – 2, with dal and green vegetables, Rice with chicken soup / Fish soup / Boiled egg, Chicken / Rice with buttermilk (100 ml)

Mid-Afternoon

  • Palm sugar or jaggery mixed milk/ Boiled sweet corn bhel/ Boiled groundnut bhel/Chevda/Bhakhra/Pudla

The Evening

  • Soup prepared with boiled sweet potato / tubers and tubers (potato, onion, carrot, beetroot etc.) / chicken soup / paratha with potato curry

Dinner

  • 2 Rotis with 1/2 cup Cauliflower Veggies, Sindhi Millet with local or seasonal vegetables, Chana Dal Magna Dal Tuwer Dal/Curry and Khichdi with vegetable salad, Oats — Daal with Apples/Pumpkin Curry and Rice-Dal/Sambar/Roti with Milk

Time to Sleep
